Hello World, It's Me Again
Hello there friends. It's been quite some time since we last spoke. I'm not quite sure where the hell 2016 went, but somehow it's been a whopping 14 months since I released Hecticube on Android on iOS, and about 7 months since its final hurrah when I showed it at PAX East 2016. Since then, most of my days when I leave Snap have been filled with simpler things. As fun as game development is, it's equally a very involved, sometimes draining experience. Mid way through Hecticube's development too, things at work really started to pick up and it gradually became harder for me to actually come home only to sit back down at a computer screen. So, right after a successful PAX East showing, I decided that an indefinite break was in order. Sure, I had some dope game ideas brewing, but I felt burnt out. On top of that, it was even harder considering I actually love my day job and I'm passionate about it as opposed to going in as a drone and zoning out for 8 hours. It's one thing to give work 100%, but Snapchat definitely gets more than that, and there's only so much Graham to go around haha.
With all that said though, I really miss it. I miss game development. I miss creating compelling interactive experiences. I miss designing cool (game related) stuff. I miss witnessing the joy people experience from playing my games, then taking pride in knowing that I contributed to their happiness. I even miss coding, though we'll see how long that lasts. I miss the passionate community. I miss all of it, and I think I am finally ready to immerse myself into that world again. I have a couple projects in mind and I think I know where I'm going to start. I'm also going to start writing more again, so the few of you that care to keep up with my journey (I love and appreciate you all) can do just that.
It's time to get back into the game in a real way. Hello world, it's me again.
